Fyp2 Part 2
During fyp2 part 1, I’ve did up the whole pop up book manually and now, in fyp2 part 2, I’m going to make this pop up book into a moving clip.
First of all, here’s my schedule to keep me on track.
So the concept is still the same which is To create an imaginative storyline together with the use of a pop up book, which would be visually appealing, to excite the children’s mind...

Summary
After going to the exhibition (Design Fest 09), it gave me a very good experience. I felt that current trend is to add a little of interactivity to the design to allow the viewers to understand more about the message they want to put across in their designs. A very good example was the Amazonia in Singapore. This exhibition sets a good overall mood to set us feeling that we are really in the...
Feedback
I’ve emailed Mr Alex my storyline and he was very kind to help me read through. He then gave me feedback on what he felt about my storyline…
He commented that he likes the premise alot and that it’s very suitable for children’s book. He felt that it’s simple and visually attractive with a nice moral. However, he felt that the storyline may be wordy for my target...
Some of research & development
Children book covers
Research on “children” typography
From this two research, I could see that the book cover which includes the title (typography) should be interesting and vibrant enough to attract a child’s attention. But also, I should make it as simple as possible for them to understand and to read.
I’ve did some sketches and from the sketches,...
Things to take note
Well, after tuesday’s presentation, there are some stuffs I had to take note of.
Typography of the title
Storyline
The techniques used for the pop up book
TIMELINE! (4 more weeeeeeks. O.O)
What I want to do asap is to create the visuals out and re-edit the typography for the book cover.
Why is my pop up book special?
I was posted a question after my presentation on tuesday.
“Why is my pop up book special? What makes it different from the rest?”
Well, I’ve tried researching on the current kinds of pop up books and have realised that most of them were quite plain and not all are really movable. Even those that have been published like the ones I’ve seen in borders. They were just pop...
Concept
MY CONCEPT:
To create an imaginative storyline together with the use of a pop up book, which would be visually appealing, to excite the children’s mind and imagination.
A child’s imagination is untamed, we should not tame it but encourage it.
Re-edited storyline
Plot: About a little pink whale which was different because she had wings and was being left out. One day, she found out that whenever she feels excited, her wings would flap and they would bring her out of her deep blue ocean to her wonder adventures. She realized she was special after knowing her abilities. That’s when the other whales started acknowledging her.
THE LITTLE PINK WHALE & her...
My first storyline draft
This is my first storyline draft and I think it could be further improved.

Lets talk more about pop-up books!
A pop up book is like a three-dimensional or movable book, often term as movable book that covers pop-ups, transformations, tunnel book, volvelles, flaps, pull tabs, pop-outs, pull-downs and more. Since 1811 till today.
History of the pop up book. The audience for early movable books were adults, not children. The catalan mystic and poet Ramon Llull of Majorca, used a revolving disc or volvelle...

The youth olympics
Brief of project is to create a animated clip for SYOGOC, it would be like a form of communication for the committee and the volunteers. Therefore, I would want my animated clip to convey this message,
“It’s a lifetime opportunity, don’t miss the fun!”
I wanted to convey this message because these people volunteered themselves because they know it’s a life-time...
